Scott's Band Saw Box

This band saw box is Scott's project for his advanced woodworking class.  Scott says he created the box by first gluing several pieces of wood together to form a thick square of wood.  The outline of the box shape was then cut on a band saw.  The back of the box was then cut off and set aside.  The band saw was then used to cut out each drawer.  The front & back of each drawer was cut off using the band saw, and then the inside was 'scooped out' using the saw.  Scott then spent countless hours and many pieces of sandpaper smoothing each piece of the box.  He says it should be called a sandpaper box!  The front & back of each drawer was then glued back in place, and the handles made from the wood scooped out of the drawers.  The back of the main box was glued back on to give a backstop for the drawers.  More sanding finished the joints.  Then the box is stained and lacquered.  Dad is VERY impressed -- he's never tried a band saw project like this!
