Erik was harvesting walnuts on a blustery November afternoon when he lost his grip on a slippery limb. It was a long fall and a short stop. The ER physician was a good friend and neighbor, and assures us that Erik will be just fine. This is one tough kid! Mostly he just bounced. But he did manage to break both bones in his left arm. Erik's arm was first put in a splint (above) and packed in ice periodically over the weekend so the swelling would go down. The best part of this (from Erik's perspective) was the principal's instructions to let him stay home from school until after the arm was set in its permanent cast. There's just too many casual collisions in an elementary school! Erik is now sporting a stylish red cast from his fingers to his elbow. Just the thing for the holiday season!
